When Harvest Technologies introduced the first SmartPReP Platelet Concentrate System, the use of autologous biomaterials to naturally stimulate the healing process was a relatively obscure practice. Today it is becoming standard-of-care.

The original SmartPReP system was the first and only system specifically designed for the rapid preparation of autologous platelet concentrate enriched with growth factors (APC⁺™). SmartPReP, for the first time, made the benefits of bioactive proteins practical in both the hospital and private practice office settings.

Harvest continues this tradition with the introduction of the SmartPReP 2. The SmarPReP 2 redefines platelet concentrate systems. The new system simultaneously delivers speed, performance, dependable results, and increased confidence by eliminating the guesswork and variability associated with other systems. SmartPReP 2's latest innovations will further expand and enhance the use of autologous bioactive proteins as well as help optimize the conditions for healing.

Predictability

The SmartPReP 2 sets a new standard for producing autologous platelet concentrate enriched with growth factors (APC⁺). The SmartPReP 2 redefines platelet concentrate systems:

• Technology: A revolutionary, self-calibrating, floating shelf technology automatically optimizes platelet recovery for every patient
• Flexibility: The system can process as little as 20 cc of whole blood for smaller applications in additional to larger volumes when needed
• Speed: Produces autologous platelet concentrate in a fraction of the time; less than 15 minutes
• Confidence: The SmartPReP system is the first and only system FDA cleared for the preparation of APC⁺ which may help improve the handling characteristics of graft material, facilitate fixation of graft material to the surgical site, and help optimize conditions for healing.

Contraindications:

The use of the Harvest SmartPReP2 System may be contraindicated when there is clinical or laboratory evidence of septicemia; and for patients who have taken aspirins, or other medications that alter platelet function within 3days prior to surgery, or patients with disorders associated with platelet dysfunction.

Healing Cascade

The body’s response to injury is a very specific and well documented series of steps collectively referred to as the “Healing Cascade”. This cascade is comprised of several distinct phases which rely on an integrated cellular systems approach that combines the use of Growth Factors, supporting cells and Stem Cells to create the optimal environment for tissue repair.

Growth Factors

As the injury continues to remodel, healing progresses by attracting stem cells from the periphery into the affected area. Autologous Platelet Concentrate APC+ contains high concentrations of growth factors within alpha-granule releasate. These growth factors initiate a cascade that results in chemoattraction of circulating stem cells.
